Legal technology company DISCO announced a major leadership change on Monday as co-founder and CEO Kiwi Camara has stepped down from his role leading the company.
The board of directors has appointed current board member Scott Hill as interim CEO while they conduct a search for a permanent new chief executive.
Camara founded DISCO in 2013 and grew it into an industry leader in AI-powered legal solutions, now serving over 1,400 law firms and legal departments globally. Earlier this year, DISCO launched its AI chatbot Cecilia that can answer lawyers’ natural language questions by citing relevant documents.
In a statement, board chair Krishna Srinivasan thanked Camara for his “vision, passion, and dedication” in building DISCO over the past decade. Camara said it was an “incredible experience” leading the company from startup to leader.
New interim CEO Scott Hill joined DISCO’s board in 2021 after serving as CFO of Intercontinental Exchange. The board expressed confidence in Hill leading DISCO through this transitional period and carrying on its mission of using technology to improve legal services.
The sudden departure of DISCO’s founder and long-time CEO represents a major leadership shakeup for the legal tech company. It remains to be seen what impact the change will have on DISCO’s strategy and culture going forward.
