With the recent industry discussions on eDiscovery certifications in mind, provided below is a snapshot reference of four organizations currently or planning to offer some type of certification program for eDiscovery professionals.  This information has been taken directly from each group’s website and reflects the latest online public domain depiction of each organization, their key advisers, and information on their online programs.

 

 

The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS)

The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), established by The Intriago Group in 2010, is the member organization for professionals in the private and public sectors who work in the field of e-discovery. ACEDS is building a community of e-discovery specialists for the exchange of ideas, guidance, training and best practices, and offers e-discovery certification.

ACEDS, the member organization for e-discovery professionals, has established the field’s first certification exam. Qualified candidates who pass the examination earn the right to use the Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) certification.

The Association of Legal Support Professionals

The Association of Litigation Support Professional is the only organization that comprises the full range of the litigation support industry. The E-Discovery Team – Online Legal Training Program

The e-Discovery Team legal training program was originally designed by Ralph Losey for his law students.  It provides serious in-depth training, including over eleven hours of high-definition videos from the top experts in the world.  Each of the 84 classes in the program concludes with challenging follow up assignments.

The Organization of Legal Professionals

The Organization of Legal Professionals is a non-profit association dedicated to setting standards and certifications through collaboration, education and certifications.

Membership is open to anyone who is interested in furthering the profession.  The OLP is comprised of some of the top legal authorities, spokespersons and educators in the legal field.  The first mission of the organization is to establish generally accepted standards and certification in e-discovery. Additionally, OLP seeks to provide a collaborative forum to disseminate information, educational opportunities and opportunities in the legal field.
