Beagle, the innovative artificial intelligence (AI) eDiscovery platform, has announced a successful $3 million seed funding round as it prepares for a broader commercial release. This round, led by ML Capital and featuring contributions from Davidovs Venture Collective fund and Thomas Wolf, co-founder of Hugging Face, marks a significant milestone in the Washington-based startup’s journey.
Founded in 2021 by former Snap Inc. machine-learning managers Sergey Demyanov and Maksim Ivanov, Beagle aims to transform the legal industry’s approach to document collection, analysis, and exchange in legal disputes. The platform, currently in beta and serving select customers, leverages generative AI to offer features such as auto-tagging, search through natural language query, and automatic privilege logs generation, promising a smarter system with increased use.
With the fresh capital, CEO Sergey Demyanov plans to expand the engineering team to enhance and introduce new features. Demyanov, an experienced entrepreneur and AI expert, emphasized the goal to develop the most convenient and powerful eDiscovery platform using large language models for automating document review processes.
The company’s distinguished technical team and innovative use of machine learning and neural networks are set to position Beagle as a standout in the crowded eDiscovery market. Both Demyanov and Ivanov bring a wealth of experience in engineering and AI, with Demyanov having previously co-founded Teleport Future Technologies, which Snap acquired in 2018.
Beagle’s announcement coincides with its participation in major industry events, including the Legalweek conference in New York and as a finalist in the Startup Pitch Competition at the ABA Techshow in Chicago, showcasing its growing influence and recognition in legal tech.
With a total of $3.43 million raised to date, including $430,000 in pre-seed investments, Beagle is gearing up for a significant commercial launch later this quarter, promising to offer powerful tools for handling high-profile legal cases.
